This beautiful miniature captures the moment when three hares might dance, usually in moonlight, or at dusk. Images of three hares can be found in sacred sites throughout the Middle East and Far East, and in Christian Churches they represent the Trinity. For others they represent a moment in time that few are lucky enough to see in the natural world.
