Kingfisher

There are 2 main ways to recognise these beautiful birds, the distinctive colour of course, but before you see the colour listen for a sound like a wheelbarrow with a rusty wheel. Really loud and once heard, never forgotten. Seconds later, the bird appears as a flash of blue. They are so small but incredible fishers, diving into the water, and emerging with a catch before alighting on a nearby perch.
