A complete guide to Fine Art Printing

Are you an up-and-coming artist or photographer looking to get your work seen by a bigger audience? For many, buying original prints and paintings isn’t possible and many people now choose to decorate their homes with high-quality prints instead. When you’re an artist first starting out, it can be tough to sell originals. In order to get their work out there and make a profit, many artists mass-produce prints to sell. At The Canvas Art Gallery, we work with artists to reproduce prints and photographs onto cotton canvases for wholesale. We only use the highest quality coated canvases and long-lasting, pigmented inks for professional results that are hard to tell apart from the original itself.

What fine art printing services are available?

Giclee fine art printing

Giclee printing gets its name from the French word ‘to spray’. The technique uses an inkjet printer to produce highly detailed, quality reproductions of an original. Inkjet printers contain small spraying devices, which are not only able to give an exact colour match but can also apply ink precisely, ensuring no brushstroke goes unmissed. To ensure the most true to life results and a beautiful finish, we use acid and lignin-free paper and Epson Ultrachrome K3 ink.

Artwork reproduction

With artwork copying and reproduction, originals are digitised using a specialist scanner or camera. As part of our expert service, proof prints are always supplied for approval, before the printing process starts to ensure you get the exact results that you want. The master print file is kept safely in our records for future orders, which ensures colour consistency across multiple print runs.

Bespoke picture framing service

As established fine art framers we are also able to offer artists a mounting and framing service. Just take a look at our framing FAQ to find out more.
