Forfar is a charming town located in Angus, Scotland. Situated between the cities of Dundee and Aberdeen, easily accessible from Dundee and Aberdeen, via the A90. Forfar is a popular destination for tourists who want to explore the stunning landscapes of Scotland while experiencing the town’s rich cultural heritage.

Forfar has a fascinating history that dates back to the Pictish era, which is evident from the numerous ancient monuments and ruins scattered throughout the town. The town was once the seat of Scotland’s King Malcolm Canmore and is famous for its witches who once danced on graves and frolicked with the devil.

If you’re a keen walker, you won’t want to miss the stunning views from Balmashanner Hill, where you will also find Balmashanner Memorial, or take a more leisurely stroll round Forfar Loch and enjoy the nature and wildlife. The Forfar Heritage Trail is a self-guided walking tour that takes visitors on a journey through the town’s history, highlighting landmarks such as the Meffan Museum and Gallery, which houses an impressive collection of local artifacts and artworks. The Angus Glens, which include Glen Esk and Glen Clova, are a short distance away and provide endless opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking, and fishing.  The nearby Loch of Kinnordy is also a popular spot for birdwatching, with over 130 different species of birds recorded in the area.

Forfar is also famous for its food, particularly its locally produced meat and game. The town’s culinary scene is centered around its traditional Scottish dishes such as haggis, neeps, and tatties, which are served in many of the local pubs and restaurants.
