Allan Coutts

Allan has enjoyed photography for many years

While travelling the world with the Royal Marines, he always tried to document the places he visited by taking pictures.

Allan is interested in all aspects of photography but it is his love of the mountains and the outdoors that he is drawn to most.

As a landscape photographer Allan fulfils his enjoyment of the outdoors by capturing scenes and moments that are both brief and elusive. Like most landscape photographers he prefers extremes of the day to capture his images, where the results are most dramatic and variable, and the light is at its most beautiful with ever changing skies.

Allan uses top quality digital photographic equipment, but nevertheless takes a more traditional approach to his work by capturing a scene
‘in camera’ as he strives to minimize the amount of computerized digital editing required.

Allan has had a number of images of his published in national photographic magazines. In 2007 the image ‘Morning Glory’ won the Landscape Category in the Digital Photographer Magazine’s Photographer of the year Awards 2007. The coastal prints are captured locally along the Angus coast from
St Cyrus, near Montrose, to the Arbroath sea cliffs.
